The Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, Amar Belani received, the Ambassador of the United States in Algeria, Elizabeth Moore Aubin, indicates a press release from the ministry.
Indeed, the meeting that took place yesterday, Thursday, February 2, 2023, in Algiers allowed the two parties to discuss relations between the two countries and the means of strengthening bilateral cooperation which has experienced positive development recently, in particular in the economic field.

Investment in Algeria: the US ambassador salutes the efforts of the Algerian authorities
In this sense, the Ambassador of the United States welcomed the efforts made by the Algerian authorities to improve the business climate and increase the flow of foreign investment in Algeria, stressing that “the positive points brought by the new law on investment, particularly in terms of legislative guarantees and tax benefits granted to foreign investors, arouse the interest of American businessmen and companies”.
For his part, Belani called on American companies to seize the promising opportunities offered by the Algerian market, particularly in light of the new investment law which offers greater legislative and regulatory stability, as well as better visibility for foreign investors.
“The economic reforms launched by Algeria thanks to personal monitoring and instructions from the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, are beginning to bear fruit in terms of the flow of partners and foreign investors to the destination Algeria, which has become very attractive. “, notes the press release.
In addition, the Algerian-American talks also focused on the upcoming deadlines in the field of security cooperation between the two countries. Welcoming in this regard the fruitful cooperation between Algeria and the United States in the fight against terrorism, reiterating their determination to consolidate and expand it, particularly in the context of the challenges inherent in the fragile security situation in the Sahel region.

Expansion of bilateral cooperation for teaching English
Concerning the scientific and cultural field, Amar Belani and Elizabeth Moore Aubin agreed on the expansion of bilateral cooperation concerning the teaching of the English language. The American ambassador in Algiers therefore expressed her country’s readiness to support the efforts of the Algerian authorities to strengthen the place of the English language, particularly among students and university researchers.
International and regional issues at the heart of the meeting
Furthermore, the two parties exchanged their views on several international and regional issues of common interest, in particular the developments of the Sahrawi cause on the subject of which Belani reiterated Algeria’s unwavering position in favor of the legitimate struggle of the people. To conclude after a long debate on this issue, the two parties agreed on the importance of supporting the efforts of the Personal Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General for Western Sahara, Staffan de Mistura in order to encourage the parties to conflict to resume the process of negotiations to reach a lasting and mutually acceptable political solution based on the rules of international legality and international law.
