Two Germans were found dead in a hotel room in Fuerteventura. It is apparently a married couple from Thuringia.

In the case of the dead German tourist couple on Fuerteventura, the Meiningen public prosecutor’s office has initiated a death investigation. A spokesman for the Thuringian authority said on Tuesday. Various media had previously reported that the couple should come from the Free State.

“If there is a death that is unclear, then we initiate a death investigation,” said the spokesman. So it is important to clarify whether third-party debt is an issue. The investigations at this stage are not aimed at one person.

According to the Federal Foreign Office, the couple was found dead on April 13 in their hotel room at a holiday resort in the south of the Spanish Canary Island of Fuerteventura.

Hit with a blunt object?

Spain’s anti-domestic violence agency said initial evidence indicated the 42-year-old woman may have been killed by her husband. According to media reports, the man then took his own life. According to a report by Spanish broadcaster telecinco, the woman was hit with a blunt object, possibly by her partner. The man then allegedly committed suicide. The Spanish police initially did not want to give any information about the case.

According to the public prosecutor in Meiningen, the Spanish authorities are basically responsible. Information is currently being collected and the identity of the dead is clarified by a DNA test. The transmission of the information takes some time, it said.

Relatives called the front desk

A spokeswoman for the city administration of Eisenach confirmed on Tuesday that the dead woman had previously worked in Eisenach. She did not give any further details. According to media reports, the dead man is said to come from Erfurt. According to information from the “Bild” newspaper, the two are said to leave behind three children aged 14, 16 and 18.
