Five years ago, Microsoft announced that it was about to buy developer Inxile Entertainment, known for its brilliant role-playing games such as The Bard’s Tale, Torment: Tides of Numenera and most recently Wasteland 3.

So far, though, they haven’t released any games developed under Xbox Game Studios (Wasteland 3 was published by Deep Silver as the deal was completed before the studio was bought), but they’ve made no secret that they have at least two major projects in the works and Inxile Entertainment has also grown quite a bit, which points to exactly this. Unfortunately, we have very little idea what these upcoming games are, although one of them is rumored to be steampunk themed. But now we have at least got a small hint via LinkedIn– the profile belonging to George Williams, who was previously a game designer at Inxile Entertainment.

Writing about what he did in the studio, he explained: “I provided research, and setting development for an upcoming video game. (Established IP, Project still under NDA)”. When this was discovered by the hawk-eyed Reddit-user Williams removed the part about an “established series”, but the photo evidence had already been saved by then (check the Reddit link above).

An established brand could mean a game based on one of their previous titles or something owned by Microsoft – or even an external product like a movie (although that’s less likely). Hopefully we’ll hear from Exile Entertainment below Xbox Games Showcase on June 11. After five years at Microsoft, it’s starting to feel like now is the time.
