The next iPhone 15 could finally be entitled to 8 GB of RAM like many Android smartphones. This would be a big novelty because Apple iPhones have always been limited to 6 GB of RAM for several years.
Soon the end of the iPhone with 6 GB of RAM? iPhones have had 6GB of RAM for several years now, including the latest iPhone 14 Pro that we tested after it was released. Nevertheless, Apple would finally be on the point to increase the RAM of your iPhone. The first model to take advantage of this big novelty would therefore be the iPhone 15 expected for this fall.
In a new report, Taiwanese research firm TrendForce claims that Apple is considering boosting the RAM of the iPhone 15. So we might expect that the iPhone 15 is equipped with 8 GB of RAM like many Android smartphones. In practice, this would allow it to be even more efficient in multitasking, when several applications are launched in the background.
8 GB of RAM for all iPhone 15 or only Pro models?
TrendForce previously revealed that the iPhone 15 might have “ an upgrade in RAM capacity to 8 GB to match its new processor referring to the A16 Bionic chip. This previous report also detailed that only the two Pro models would benefit from the 8 GB of RAM. TrendForce did not clarify in its new report whether the 8 GB of RAM applies to all models. The situation is therefore still a little unclear.
The iPhone 15 and 15 Plus would in this case still have 6 GB of RAM against 8 GB for the iPhone 15 Pro and Ultra. Nevertheless, the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus could at least benefit from a LPDDR5 RAM. They would thus gain in speed without having 8 GB of RAM.
In any case, we should probably expect to see 8 GB of RAM on the next iPhone, even if all models will not be affected. On the other hand, the big novelty which will concern all the models will be the arrival of the USB-C port to replace the traditional Lightning. The first photo of the iPhone 15 Pro also revealed this new USB-C port.
