Apple is apparently planning to redesign its iPhone range for the coming year. The reason is the sales of the iPhone 14, which seem to be worse for the standard models than the manufacturer had hoped for. The iPhone 14 and 14 Plus have been readily available since they went on sale, while the more differentiated iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max models – with a better camera, faster SoC and Dynamic Island – were difficult to find. On the one hand, this was due to the higher demand, but on the other hand, it was also due to massive production difficulties in China.

A few things could therefore change in the iPhone 15 lineup expected for September 2023. A Korean leaker who has been right more often in the past, claims now, Apple is considering a price reduction for the “iPhone 15 Plus”, while the “iPhone 15” could also be offered cheaper. This would set the models apart more from the Pro versions. This could also be accompanied by (even) larger differences of a technical nature. However, parts of the iPhone 14 Pro technology should end up in the “15” and “15 Plus”, including the Dynamic Island.

Alternatively, it would also be conceivable for Apple to differentiate the new high-price model, the “iPhone 15 Pro Max” or “iPhone 15 Ultra”, more clearly from the “iPhone 15 Pro”. This would bring the iPhone 15, 15 Plus and 15 Pro closer together. It is already clear that Apple will use different materials and cameras as usual – the Pro models traditionally come with one more sensor and in steel.

It already seems clear that Apple will diversify more in iPhone production in the future. iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max initially came from just one factory this year, the Foxconn factory in Zhengzhou. And this was exactly what was massively affected by corona lockdowns and labor unrest. Apple no longer wants to see these problems with the iPhone 15 Pro. In particular, the top model “iPhone 15 Ultra” aka “iPhone 15 Pro Max” should no longer come from just one factory, believes the Taiwanese research firm TrendForce. In addition to Foxconn, Apple will commission the Chinese manufacturer Luxshare.

Meanwhile, Apple is working on the new SoC. Thanks to the new 3 nm process, the A17 Bionic could allegedly be up to 35 percent more energy efficient – without further optimization. The statements of the Producers TSMC from Taiwan nah, which is just getting started with the new product lines.
