You are currently viewing iPhone 15 Pro Max: iFixit teardown, only 4 out of 10 points for now

The repair experts at iFixit have published a new interesting video.
In the clip, the renowned hobbyists dismantle an iPhone 15 Pro Max and analyze its structure. At the end there is a rating as to how easily the device can be repaired.

“Difficult to repair, sensitive”

iFixit found that the iPhone 15 Pro Max opens from the back, but no components are accessible at this point. So if you want to reach the logic board, the battery and other components, you have to remove the display. iFixt takes a critical view of this and warns that one of the numerous cable connections could be damaged. A repair is “difficult” and many parts are “sensitive”.

Rating: 4 out of 10 points, but only provisional

Great: iFixit discovered a larger battery compared to the 14 Pro. The battery performance has increased by 2.3 percent. iFixit praises the fact that Apple has installed a larger battery in the iPhone 15 Pro Max than in the iPhone 14 Pro Max. For the 2022 model, Cupertino used 4323 mAh, now it is 4422 mAh.

Keyword design. iFixit considers the new titanium frame to be susceptible to scratches. It was previously known that Apple would continue to install a high-end modem chip from Qualcomm. It’s the Snapdragon X70. The DDR5 RAM comes from SK Hynix.

The camera module of the iPhone 15 Pro Max with the tetraprism telephoto lens was implemented in a complex manner. But the sensors of the main and ultra-wide-angle cameras are no different from those of the iPhone 14 Pro Max.

The device receives 4 out of 10 points. This is the worst rating since 2008. However, it is assumed that Apple will start selling replacement parts in the near future.
