Former Ukrainian MP Irina Farion murdered

The former Ukrainian MP Irina Farion died late last Friday from a gunshot to the head in an attack carried out in the western city of Lviv by an unidentified individual who is still on the run.

Farion, 60 years old and a linguist by profession, she served as a deputy from 2012 to 2024 for the ultra-nationalist Svoboda party and was particularly known for her inflammatory speeches against the Russian language.
