Secretary of State Marlène Schiappa, guest of BFMTV, was questioned about the “maneuvers” of intimidation denounced by Marine Le Pen on deputies of the National Rally.

“I will never explain to a victim of violence, whoever it is, that it is a bit of their fault and that they have looked for it a bit”. Secretary of State Marlène Schiappa, invited this Monday evening on BFMTV, defended the parliamentarians threatened on the sidelines of the first day of debates in the National Assembly around the pension reform.

During this, the president of the RN group Marine Le Pen denounced “manoeuvres” of intimidation targeting deputies of her party. According to the President of the RN deputies, several of her colleagues received messages saying that their children were in the hospital so that they would leave the hemicycle so as not to be complete when their referendum motion was examined.

However, for a referendum motion to be voted on, all the deputies who signed it must be present in the hemicycle. “That people dare to use this type of method is lamentable”, denounced Marine Le Pen.

“I condemn any attempt to intimidate the elected representatives of the Republic, whatever their political taste. […] it is inadmissible”, declared Marlène Schiappa on our antenna.

I hope that we will find out who the authors of these calls are”, she continued, explaining that these are “not very modern techniques”.

“It’s no longer acceptable”

“Unfortunately, these are traditional methods of political life, methods that we would like to see disappear, it is no more acceptable to do so against elected representatives of the National Rally than against elected representatives from any political side whatsoever” , added the Secretary of State.

“We are in a democracy, we have the right to express disagreements, convictions and to do so calmly,” said Marlène Schiappa.

The president of the Social Affairs Commission Fadila Khattabi also spoke this Monday evening at the National Assembly to also denounce threatening messages that she and other deputies have received. “It is absolutely scandalous […] we must not be intimidated,” Fadila Khattabi said from the ranks of the Assembly.

“When we see the degree of violence we have to face for having defended convictions, I think that raises questions,” said Marlène Schiappa on BFMTV.
