Criminals are using the name of the Central Bank to apply scams and promise immediate withdrawals via WhatsApp. The scammers claim that the victim has R$ 1,915 for withdrawal and steal the personal data of those who fell for the scam.
Bandits use the Central Bank brand and fake prints to convince victims via WhatsApp that they have immediate withdrawals of receivables. Everyone who fell for the scam is informed that they had R$ 1,915 to receive, which is false.
However, before the alleged payment, criminals ask victims to fill out a form with personal data. Authorities say the stolen information is used to open checking accounts and access credit cards.
The Federal Police is investigating the case and agents believe that victims still give criminals access to cell phone information by clicking on the link sent by the scammers. Those who suffered from this scam should contact the Civil Police of their state.
Receivables
The Central Bank’s System of Values Receivable (SVR) is a tool that shows money “forgotten” in financial institutions. It is possible to access official government page to clarify doubts about the possible stopped amounts.
However, consultation with forgotten values has been suspended since April 2022, with no reopening forecast, as well as withdrawals. When the system returns, the withdrawal of resources by heirs and legal representatives of the deceased will be allowed.
