She is a face. Or a mood. A radiant smile resting on thin cheeks. British-American actress Jane Seymourstar of Doctor Quinn, female doctor over twenty-five years ago (who almost never appeared on the show), is starring in a new British drama Harry Wild, whose fifth and sixth episodes (out of eight) are broadcast this Sunday, December 25 at 9 p.m., on Paris Première. She portrays a young retired woman in her sixties, a tyrannical former professor of literature, who improvises herself as an investigator in the Irish plains, beyond the warnings of her relatives. Meeting with an actress, former James Bond girl in Live and Let Die (1973), who now enjoys playing a hotheaded detective.
“My character in Harry Wild is very different from me”
Télé-Loisirs: How did the filming of the series go?
Jane Seymour: That was over a year ago, last summer. Everything was wonderful. The filming location was superb, the script and my role too. There were very good actors. Like this young English actor, Rohan Nedd (already seen in Inspector Barnaby, series which recently signed its return to France 3), which played Fergus, an Irish boy. We had a great time during filming. It was a huge success.

What did you like about your Harry Wild character?
She is a very independent, intellectual woman with a great sense of humor. She is a former professor of English literature at Cambridge, who is retiring and does not know what to do with her days. But she will become a very good detective, using her literary knowledge to lead the investigation. By joining forces with young Fergus, both will be more successful in finding the criminals. In short, he’s a funny, intelligent character who constantly corrects people for the way they speak. But who is very different from me. The only thing we have in common is that we both like red wine…and we’re used to correcting grammatical errors in our loved ones.
How did you prepare for the role?
I tried to put myself in the mentality of a teacher, very literary, who uses an intellectual term, pays little attention to her appearance. I tried to bring my sense of humor to the character, as well as my frankness. I always speak my mind… like Harry Wild.

Why did you accept this role?
Because it wasn’t a scary crime show. Sure, there are crimes, but that’s more bizarre than disturbing. And the series is very funny. It’s quite unique. I had never seen this kind of detective fiction on screen.

Is a season 2 planned?
Absolutely. For two and a half months, we have been filming twelve other episodes and we hope that it will be finished at the end of April! But we don’t know yet when they will be released… I think the script for season 2 is even better written, with the same very good actors.
Would you like other actors from Doctor Quinn, Female Doctorlike Joe Lando (his former partner on the screen… and in the city), join the cast of Harry Wild?
If he had a good role, yes, with great pleasure. We just shot a Christmas movie together (titled A Christmas Spark, note). I’m sure the teamHarry Wild love Joe Lando, but nothing is planned yet. However, I feel that people want more fiction with Joe Lando and me… even if it’s not Doctor Quinn.

Where is the sequel project? Doctor Quinn, Female Doctorthe series that made you famous?
We want to do a sequel, but we haven’t found a producer to do it yet, maybe because there’s no more room for that kind of content. We don’t have a fully written script either. But the actors are ready to play a sequel. I hope we will get there. those who worship Doctor Quinn really like Harry Wild.
