After journalistic reports, Javier Milei officially announced who will be his running mate for the next presidential elections.
“The brilliant woman who accompanies me is Victoria Villarruel -confirmed the leader and presidential candidate of La Libertad Avanza-. She is a person of integrity, honest. We are also friends. We work in a way in which we complement each other very well and that , for the issues that afflict the country today, is fundamental”.
Villarruel is a lawyer and president of the Center for Legal Studies on Terrorism and its Victims. She entered Congress after integrating the list of candidates for national deputies headed by Javier Milei. Upon taking office in the lower house, she swore by the “victims of terrorism” and received whistles.
Milei highlighted the knowledge that her banking partner has in matters of security and defense. “Few people are up to her,” she said. And she also “in extremely important discussions, so contaminated and dirty in Argentina, such as those of human rights.” She added that the two greatest demands of society are, today, inflation and security, and pointed to the pair as specialists, each one, in these issues.
Villarruel, for his part, described Milei as a person “out of the ordinary” who “in a year and a half, installed the economic discourse not only of the opposition, but also of the ruling party.” “In many situations, he can have a different opinion, and yet when someone argues and it seems intelligent to him, he can change the opinion and analyze those nuances,” he said. “He has been a great partner in Congress and we have had a collaborative relationship at all times. And that is the most important thing that a president and vice president can offer the Argentines,” he added.
“Why do they show so much fear if the phenomenon does not exist?” Milei wondered when refuting the arguments of those who, based on the results of the last provincial elections, maintain that the La Libertad Avanza candidate has no structure at the national level . “They look terrified,” she observed.
The economist maintained that the results of the recent provincial elections cannot be extrapolated to the national level and asserted that if the elections had not been duplicated, “it would be devastating.” “When we go to the general elections… We are going to see what happens when they have these little faces – alluding to him and his vice candidate – on the ballots,” he warned.
