Mexico City.- The tribute that Natalia Lafourcade had prepared to the late filmmaker Carlos Saura at the Goya awards gala was marred by Jeanette.

The Mexican singer was invited to sing “Por qué te vas”, the song made popular by Jeanette in the 1970s, and which is part of the soundtrack of Cría Cuervos, one of Saura’s iconic films.

“It seemed embarrassing to see another singer singing ‘Porque Te Vas’ in a tribute to Carlos Saura at the Goya awards. Nothing to comment on,” the Iberian wrote on her Twitter account.

Saura passed away last Friday, the eve of receiving the Goya de Honor at the gala of the highest Spanish film awards. He was 91 years old.

The director’s family collected the statuette, which had been attributed to him from the hands of actress Carmen Maura, who worked with him on Ay, Carmela, and who described him as a wonderful, sympathetic and understanding director.

“Thank you very much to all those who have collaborated with me in this wonderful work that is shooting a film,” said Saura himself in a message that he had prepared to thank the award and which was read by his wife, Eulalia Ramón.
