Juarez City.- The Juárez Municipal Water and Sanitation Board (JMAS) reported on its official Facebook account that from 2022 to 2023 it has installed more than a thousand manhole covers made of various materials in the city.

He pointed out that there are 48,000 sewers throughout the town, of which “an unquantified number of covers are stolen daily,” with an approximate cost of 5,000 pesos for each one.

For this reason, the ones placed are made of materials other than cast iron, such as polyconcrete, high-density polyethylene and ductile iron, which is not attractive “for criminals”, indicated the decentralized state.

Last week, the JMAS reported that it had placed 267 caps with these characteristics during 2023. The majority, 165, were made of polyethylene, while 57 were made of polyconcrete and 45 were made of ductile iron.

The state body then added that unfortunately not all the sewers where it is required can be placed material other than cast iron due to the large vehicular circulation or the type of cars that use the arteries where these sewers are located.
