The meeting took place at the Beit Ha Nassi presidential residence, located in the Talbiya neighborhood of the city of Jerusalem, and was also attended by the Chief Rabbi and president of the Grand Supreme Rabbinical Court of Israel, david baruch laureported sources from the Cabinet Office.

During the bilateral meeting, Manzur and Herzog discussed, among other topics, the historical ties between Argentina and Israel, and the strengthening of the exchange achieved in recent years in terms of trade, science, technology and culture.

Likewise, the minister and the president also analyzed the issue of strategic management and management of water resources in order to think about the possibility of an integrated plan for the Argentine territory with the application of Israeli know-how, the sources highlighted.

After the meeting, Manzur accompanied the highest religious authority of Judaism, the Chief Rabbi of Israel David Baruch Lau, in the important Hanukkah ceremony that took place at the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem. There, the Argentine official lit the last candle of the sacred celebration.

During his speech, Lau thanked the “honorable presence of the Chief of Cabinet of Ministers of the Argentine Republic, Doctor Juan Manzur”, whom he mentioned as “my dear friend”.

Early in the morning, before the meeting he had with Herzog, the coordinating minister participated together with the president of the World Zionist Organization (WSO), Yaakov Hagoel, in the ceremony of placing floral wreaths on the grave of Theodor Herzl, who He is considered the Father of the Israeli State.

As part of the agenda that he is carrying out in Israel, and in the company of the president of the OSM, Manzur visited the Yad Vashem Museum, where he fanned the Perpetual Flame of Remembrance in memory of the six million Jews murdered by the Nazi regime during the WWII. The Museum, located on the so-called Mount of Remembrance, is the World Center for the Commemoration of the Shoah, whose mission is to commemorate, document, investigate and educate about the Holocaust.

Later, Manzur visited the Federation of Municipalities of Israel, where he had a meeting with the mayor of the city of Modi’in-Maccabim-Re’ut, Haim Bibas.

The Chief of Staff has been in Israel since last Thursday, invited by Chief Rabbi Lau. Previously, Manzur had visited the Chief Rabbi at the headquarters of the Supreme Court, in November 2018, on a tour that he made during his first term as governor of Tucumán, in order to generate commercial, technological and educational exchange between the province and Israel.

Lau, for his part, visited Tucumán in December 2019, and among other activities, they inaugurated together a synagogue in the center of the provincial capital.
