Of course, films going over their allotted budget happen from time to time, but the last two Jurassic World films: Fallen Kingdom and Dominion cost a lot, a lot, a lot more than what was initially thought. Now there will be a lot of numbers, so stay tuned!

Fallen Kingdom originally had a budget of just over $170 million, but ended up costing just over $516 million. Dominion had a planned budget of $185 million, but the party grossed a little more than $328 million. Senseless sums, in other words.

Despite the fact that the final sum for the films was much higher than expected, however, the studio did not have to cry when the films then went to theaters. Fallen Kingdom grossed a mind-boggling $1.3 billion and in the end the studio made just over $218 million from the film. Dominion’s budget became much higher due to Covid-19, which resulted in cast quarantine, and expensive hotel bills that reportedly cost $600 a night. Then the film hit theaters at a time when audiences hadn’t quite returned to theaters yet, but Domino still managed to cross the $1 billion mark, earning just over $235 million for the studio.

In other words, it is proven that people are really hungry for dinosaurs, and this means that the franchise will certainly live on.

Have you seen the movies and what did you think?
