Alejandra Valencia, archery world runner-up

MEXICO CITY (proceso.com.mx).- This Sunday, August 6, the Mexican archer Alejandra Valencia hung the silver medal in individual recurve at the Berlin 2023 Archery World Championship.

The Sonoran faced the Japanese Sugimoto Tomomi in the quarterfinals, whom she defeated 7-1. In the next round she defeated the American Casey Kaufhold 6-5 in definition by golden arrow.

Valencia settled in the final against the Czech Marie Horackova, who previously beat the South Korean Lim Sihyeon and the Japanese Noda Satsuki. In the final, the Mexican lost by a resounding 6-0 in three sets.

In this World Championship, Mexico won three runners-up: women’s individual recurve, women’s individual compound (Andrea Becerra Arizaga) and made up of women’s teams (Becerra Arizaga, Ana Hernández León and Dafne Quintero García), and the women’s recurve team bronze (Valencia Trujillo, Aída Román and Ángela Ruiz Rosales).
