Kamala Harris raises $200 million in first week of campaign

The Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harrismanaged to raise $200 million in his first week of campaigning and is getting closer to winning the Democratic Party nomination for the November elections.

Harris’ team announced Sunday that the bulk of the donations — 66 percent — came from first-time contributors in the 2024 election cycle who sent their money after President Biden dropped out of the race.

Michael Tyler, the campaign’s communications director, said in a memo that “Vice President Harris’ momentum and energy are real,” and predicted that “this election will be very close and will be decided by a small number of voters in just a few states.”

Last week, Kamala raised $90 million in just 24 hoursreaffirming the perception held by many within her Party that no one has a chance of standing up to her.

The 90 million euros came largely from small contributions, although she also has the support of big businessmen, famous artists and heavyweights from her party.

According to the newspaper New York TimesHis campaign declared $81 million on the first day of his candidacy, thanks to donations from 888,000 people, 60% of whom were making their first contribution.

Harris has the backing of figures such as Barack Obama, who called her on the phone with his wife Michelle to announce his support for the Democrats’ race to remain in the White House.

“We told her that we believe she will be a fantastic President of the United States and that she has our full support. At this critical moment for our country, we will do everything we can to ensure she wins in November,” the former president said on his Twitter account.
