Kamala Harris She managed to raise 90 million in the last 24 hours, a record figure that comes largely from small contributions, although the US vice president also has the support of big businessmen, famous artists and heavyweights of her Party.

Since Joe Biden announced his decision to drop out of the presidential race and declared her support for Harris as her possible successor in the electoral campaign, her role as the Democratic candidate in November seems increasingly closer.

“Democrats are on track to reach $100 million raised through ActBlue,” said Kenneth Pennington, a strategist for the Blues, on Monday.

According to the newspaper New York TimesKamala’s campaign declared $81 million on the first day of her candidacy, thanks to donations from 888,000 people, 60 percent of whom were making their first contribution.

But ActBlue, the party’s digital donation portal, processed more than $90 million in the same period, according to an analysis of the platform’s contributions by the newspaper.

Support for Kamala is growing by the day, to the point that many believe that no one within the Party has a chance of taking her on and that it is even possible that her nomination could be finalized this week.

The 59-year-old lawyer and daughter of immigrants has the support of figures such as the Clintons and the former speaker of the House of Representatives. Nancy Pelosi (one of those who advocated for Biden’s withdrawal)as well as major senators and donors, and even those who were considered possible replacements for the president this year.

Others like Barack Obama, who had also asked Biden to reconsider his candidacyadvocate for an open process “from which an outstanding candidate emerges” to confront Trump, the former president said in a statement.

He is joined by several billionaires and donors to the Party, including Michael Bloomberg, former mayor of New York and founder of the financial information company Bloomberg; Reed Hastings, one of the founders of Netflix; and venture capitalist Vinod Khosla, co-founder of Sun Microsystems.

In the first seven hours after receiving President Biden’s endorsement, the vice president achieved a an impressive gross of nearly $47 million.
