KeePass is a free, open-source password manager that allows users to store and manage strong passwords for all their (online) accounts. Passwords are stored in an encrypted database protected by a master password set by the user.

Users of the classic version of the password manager KeePass can now download version 1.41. KeePass version 1 and 2 differ greatly in their functions, but there are users for whom version 1 is sufficient. You can find an overview of the differences between KeePass 1 and KeePass 2 here this side. Version 1.41 does not directly contain bug fixes, but there are improvements and new functions, as the changelog shows:

New properties:

  • {EDGE} placeholder added , which will be replaced with the executable path of the new (Chromium-based) Microsoft Edge, if installed.
  • Of the {FIREFOX}Wildcard now supports detecting the Microsoft Store version of Firefox (in addition to the regular versions).
  • When attempting to rearrange entries while auto-sorting is enabled, KeePass now asks if auto-sorting should be disabled.
  • Added frames for headings in HTML exports/printouts.
  • Added horizontal entry separators in HTML exports/printouts.

Improvements:

  • Improved article separation in the entry detail view.
  • If moving an entry fails, the entry’s last access time is no longer updated.
  • Improved HTML generation for HTML exports/printouts.
  • Improved fonts used when printing or exporting to HTML.
  • HTML exports/printouts: improved encoding of spaces in passwords.
  • Rearranged fields/columns in exports to improve consistency.
