It was probably only a matter of time, but after many reports of a big fight between Kevin Costner and series creator Taylor Sheridan during the filming of Yellowstone, it seems that the end has come for Costner’s character John Dutton III. According to sources of Entertainment Tonight star will leave the series after five seasons. Meanwhile, Costner’s lawyer Marty Singer was careful to dispel rumors about the Yellowstone drama.
“The idea that Kevin was only willing to work one week on the second half of season 5 of Yellowstone is an absolute lie. It’s ridiculous — and anyone suggesting it shouldn’t be believed for one second. As everyone who knows anything about Kevin is well aware, he is incredibly passionate about the show and has always gone way above and beyond to ensure its success.”
ET also reports that it’s not yet known when production on the series will resume and is currently in limbo pending a new decision, but Paramount has already planned several Yellowstone-related shows so expect more cowboy drama to come.
