Hauke Wahl rules out a departure from Holstein Kiel and at the same time holds out the prospect of a contract extension. The 28-year-old said to the ‘Kieler Nachrichten’: “After 2022, which was very difficult for me, my focus is currently only on daily work and the next few weeks of preparation for the second half of the season. But it’s no secret that I feel extremely comfortable here in the club and can very well imagine staying with Holstein beyond the coming summer.” The centre-back’s contract expires in 2023.
Wahl had recently been traded as a possible reinforcement at Hamburger SV. In the 2018/19 season, the right-footed player played under the current HSV coach Tim Walter. So there will be no reunification at the Volkspark. The Rothosen must therefore look elsewhere in search of a replacement for doping-banned Mario Vuskovic.
