Wednesday night 1er on Thursday, February 2, we learned of the arrest of an uneventful pizza maker from the city of Saint-Etienne, Paolo Dimitrio. The arrest took place calmly, at 1:40 a.m., while Dimitrio had just finished his service at the Agora, the Italian restaurant where he had been working for a few months. Greco was a killer, a real one, he belonged to the ‘Ndrangheta, the Calabrian mafia, more discreet than Cosa Nostra (Sicilian) or the Camorra (Neapolitan), but considered more powerful. For several years, Interpol has made the fight against this organization a priority. Thus, it was through an international cooperation program called I-CAN that Edgardo Greco was first identified – he had posed in 2021 for the newspaper “Le Progrès” – and then arrested. Originally from Reggio Calabria, the stronghold of the ‘Ndrangheta, the journalist Antonio Talia published in 2020 an exciting book on the history of the Calabrian mafia, “‘Ndrangheta, on the secret routes of the most powerful mafia in the world” ( Grasset). For “the Obs”, he agreed to return to the arrest of Edgardo Greco.
