OSLO.- King Harald V of Norway He returned to his duties after more than two and a half months on leave due to his health problems, with a reduced agenda due to his advanced age, the royal palace announced today – April 22.

“His Majesty the King is happy to be back and resume his duties,” the Palace said in a statement.

Harald, 87, is the oldest sitting monarch in Europe and had to be hospitalized during a private trip to Malaysia in late February.

Repatriation of the king

The king was repatriated to his country on a medical plane and was implanted with a permanent pacemaker to replace a temporary device placed by doctors in Malaysia.

“The king is going to adjust his program in the future, given his age,” reported the royal house, which specifies that it will proceed to a permanent reduction in the number and intensity of its activities.

Harald V, who has been on the throne since 1991, has suffered several health problems in recent years, but has ruled out abdicating. During his absence he is replaced by the crown prince, Haakon, 50 years old.
