Despite a difficult first period, Real Madrid was effective against Manchester City (1-0) on Tuesday in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final.
From the first minutes, the Citizens took control of the ball, without however managing to approach Courtois’ cage. But the Madrid goalkeeper still had to work fairly quickly by repelling two long shots from De Bruyne and Rodri. By dint of suffering, the Merengue exposed themselves and Courtois, twice, was attentive in front of Hland in his own area.
With the exception of a small alert on a deep ball too long for Benzema, the reigning English champion completely mastered the debates by multiplying the waves in the opposing camp. Then on an error by Rodri, City were still very hot with a superb save from Dias just in front of Benzema! Much better before the break, Real stung on a drill from Camavinga concluded by a superb strike from Vinicius between the surface (1-0, 36th). Gorgeous !
