LG has communicated, that it has signed an agreement with Asleep, a Korean startup specializing in AI-powered sleep analysis, to jointly develop next-generation smart home devices. This “sleep research collaboration” aims to produce new devices that respond to human breathing and diagnose sleep stages in order to function optimally.

LG plans to integrate this technology into other products such as TVs, refrigerators, air conditioners, air purifiers and washing machines. With this information, these devices can turn themselves on or off and optimize settings.

For example, if an owner is detected to be sleeping, the air purifier in the bedroom will be switched to sleep mode and the Whisen air conditioner will be set to the optimal temperature according to the last sleep records. When the laundry is finished and the customer is asleep, the washing machine can automatically activate the “laundry care after completion” function.

At CES 2023, LG will introduce a new series of devices with a minimalist design, including a washing machine and a dryer. The new range focuses on the essentials of each device and removes all unnecessary design elements.
