Liberty City Commissioner to distribute 200 school backpacks

MIAMI.- District 5 Commissioner Christine King will deliver backpacks, school supplies, uniforms, sneakers and gift cards to 200 pre-selected children to alleviate the financial burden of the most disadvantaged families in Liberty City.

“Summer is ending soon and we want our young people to look forward to returning to school,” said King, chairwoman of the City Commission.

The commissioner said she wanted to ensure that “our students are well prepared and excited for the upcoming school year.”

“This donation helps our community children get excited about receiving an education, while helping to lessen the financial burden on their parents.”

According to the press release, the school supplies distribution will be next Friday, August 2nd from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at 6140 NW 7th Avenue, Miami, FL 33127 at the District 5 Office headquarters.

Miami-Dade elementary and secondary schools will begin the 2024-25 school year on Thursday, August 15.
