• Facebook is gaining popularity among videographers
  • The platform even has the luxury of being ahead of another service from the Meta group: Instagram
  • This is explained by the rise of short video formats and the implementation of monetization tools for content creators.

All those who thought Facebook dead and buried will be at their expense. The platform continues to attract 2.037 billion active users in April 2023. In France, no less than 26.6 million people connect to it daily, according to figures shared by Digimind.

A survey conducted by the Influencer Marketing Factory confirms the popularity of the service among content creators. To see more clearly, analysts have indeed surveyed 660 influencers based in the United States last month.

And the surprise was significant, since it appears that 17% of respondents consider Facebook to be their favorite application with a 3-point increase compared to 2021. Even more spectacular, the platform now overtakes Instagram (also in the Meta group) which obtains a score of 16% when it scored 22% two years earlier.

Another figure from this study is something to delight Mark Zuckerberg’s social network. Indeed, 17% of influencers believe that Facebook is the place where they earn the most money, an increase of 7 points compared to 2021, while Instagram is down 5 points to 17%.

Why is Facebook becoming attractive again?

There remains a question of size, how can we explain such a favorable evolution? The integration of Reels, a format of short videos similar to those offered by TikTok and Instagram, seems to work enormously.

Similarly, Facebook has rolled out new monetization tools for videographers, and they appreciate the approach. Finally, Facebook remains a preferred platform for attracting a slightly older audience.

Another fairly discreet change has taken place in recent months and it changes the way the social network works in a spectacular way. If you use Facebook regularly, you must have noticed that the algorithm suggests a lot of content to which you are not necessarily subscribed but which are related to your centers of interest.

This is also done to the detriment of the publications of your relatives or the pages you follow. Either way, this subtle tweak brings the platform even closer to rivals TikTok and Instagram where the accounts you follow aren’t always well showcased.
