The new rate charts for gas transportation and distribution came into effect for all consumption made as of May, with increases of around 25% for residential customers and up to 50%.

This was established by the National Gas Regulatory Entity (Enargas) last Friday, through 11 resolutions published in the Official Gazette for each operator. Resolution 193/2023 approved the rate charts for Litoral Gas, the company in charge of distributing this service in the province of Santa Fe.

Andrés Romagnoli, spokesman for Litoral Gas, clarified that the increases arise from the public hearings that were held during the first days of January of this year, “where all the gas distributors and transporters in the country submitted to Enargas a proposal for a recomposition that was coming far behind inflation.

He explained that the “increase depends on the level of consumption as well as the level of segmentation in which the user has remained.” And he specified: “It could be between 20 and 50 percent of the total bill, depending on whether they are level 1, which is of high income; level 2, of low income or level 3, which is of medium income.

He recalled that those included in level 1 have no more gas subsidies since January 1, it is the component of the bill that represents 50 percent of the total amount.

On the other hand, he warned that “level 2 (low income) and level 3 (middle income) are still partially subsidized up to a consumption limit.”
