Harrison Ford, Scorsese and Almodovar on the Croisette

Cannes has already confirmed three event screenings. The fifth installment of the Indiana Jones adventures, The Dial of Destiny, will premiere on May 18. Cannes has also confirmed the arrival of veteran Harrison Ford, 80, for a climb of the steps which promises to be memorable.

Thierry Frémaux has also ensured the presence of another Hollywood legend, Martin Scorsese, who will come to present his new film-river Killers of the Flower Moonwith Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert de Niro.

The faithful Pedro Almodovar also received his ticket to Cannes, with a short film in the form of a “queer western”. Strange Way of Life tells the story of a rancher, Silva, played by Pedro Pascal, and a sheriff, played by Ethan Hawke.

Maïwenn and Johnny Depp opening

Jeanne du Barry will be the opening film. This period film, on the last favorite of Louis XV, is sure to make ink flow, with the great return of Johnny Depp, after the judicial soap opera which opposed him to his ex-wife Amber Heard.

Maïwenn embodies the title character and also directs this film, her sixth feature after notably Policies (Jury Prize in 2011), My king et ADN.

Pierre Richard, Benjamin Lavernhe and India Hair complete the cast. Jeanne du Barry will be released in French theaters on the same day as its Cannes presentation, May 16.
