Washington denies offering 20% of Ukraine to Putin to end the war
The White House and the CIA have denied to the magazine Newsweek information from the Swiss daily Neue Zürcher Zeitung, which indicated that CIA director Williams Burns had secretly traveled to Moscow to offer Vladimir Putin 20% of Ukraine, in exchange for stopping the war.
This secret trip would have taken place in January, assured the Neue Zürcher Zeitung, based on statements by senior German officials. “Completely false,” a CIA official assured Newsweek.
the Neue Zürcher Zeitung assured that Moscow and kyiv would both have refused the American proposal. A White House spokesman, Sean Davett, told Newsweek that this information “was not true”.
The Kremlin assures that the European embargo on Russian refined products will “further unbalance” the markets
The European embargo on Russian refined products exported by sea, which is due to come into force on Sunday, is a “negative” measure that will “further unbalance” the markets, the Kremlin castigated on Friday.
“This will further unbalance international energy markets,” said Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov, assuring that Russia “was taking steps to cover (its) interests against emerging risks.”
Germany will also send 88 Leopard 1 tanks to Ukraine
The German daily Suddeutsche Zeitung reports this Friday that the German government has approved the shipment to Ukraine of 88 Leopard 1 tanks from its manufacturers, in addition to the already promised Leopard 2s.
German government spokesman Steffen Hebestreit confirmed that Berlin had authorized its manufacturers to deliver Leopar 1 battle tanks to kyiv. However, he did not specify a number.
Anti-aircraft alert lifted in almost all of Ukraine
The anti-aircraft alert that had been in effect since this morning in Ukraine was lifted in almost the entire country.
Only the Kharkiv and Lugansk regions are still affected by an alert.
Kherson bombed overnight
The Kyiv Post reports that the city of Kherson, in southern Ukraine, was bombed overnight by the Russians.
Three fires broke out following these bombardments. The Russians are said to have targeted a fireworks store located in a shopping center in the city.

Norway will buy 54 new next-generation Leopard 2 tanks, with an option on 18 more, to replace its tanks of the same model but of an older type, the Norwegian government announced on Friday.
Under construction for several years, this Leopard 2A7 order will renew the existing fleet of 36 aging Leopard 2A4s, some of which are to be donated to Ukraine.
Ukraine files lawsuit against Wagner Group founder Yevgeny Prigozhin
The Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine has filed a complaint against the founder of the private Russian paramilitary group Wagner, Yevgeny Prigozhin.
Prigojine is accused of having violated the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine, but also of having waged a war of aggression against Ukraine.
Reputed to be close to Vladimir Putin, Evgueni Prigojine is one of the names circulating to take over from the master of the Kremlin.
One dead after car explosion in occupied Enerhodar
Ukrainian media reports that one person died after his car exploded in the Russian-occupied Ukrainian town of Enerhodar, located in the Zaporizhia region.

“The scale of the Wagner Group’s recruitment drive has significantly reduced from its peak between summer and fall 2022,” the document details.
The Russian prison administration has reported a prison population in the country of 433,000 people, or 6,000 fewer inmates compared to November 2022.
By way of comparison, between September and November 2022, a drop of 23,000 detainees had been observed.
