Line judge Constantine Hatzidakis will not be used for the time being after an elbow bump against a Liverpool professional. Hatzidakis will not be called up for any games pending investigation by the FA into the incident between the assistant referee and Liverpool defender Andrew Robertson. This was announced on Monday by Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL), which is responsible for the English referees.

The scene caused a stir during the half-time break of the Premier League game between Liverpool FC and Arsenal FC (2-2) on Sunday. Images show Hatzidakis swinging his elbow after an argument with Robertson and hitting the stunned Scot on the chin. The international immediately protested to referee Paul Tierney, who, however, showed Robertson a yellow card.

“I didn’t see it,” Liverpool coach Jürgen Klopp said after the game. “I noticed what is supposed to have happened and I also heard that the pictures speak for themselves,” said the former Bundesliga coach. PGMOL had announced an investigation. (dpa)
