Within the framework of the act for the 50th anniversary of the National University of Misiones held this morning on the University Campus, a group of students, teachers and the university community made an intervention demanding justice for Lucía Maidana, the young woman murdered on the 6th of April 2013 in Posadas. The request was made again to clarify the femicide of the young woman for which at this time there are no detainees or further progress in the case. Dressed in black and with posters with the girl’s face, they demanded that Justice be able to find him or those guilty of the crime.
“Today, like yesterday, UNaM is present in struggles for democracy, for human rights, for memory, truth, and justice,” said one of the posters they presented. Lucia Maidana present, now and always, the cries that accompanied the request after 10 years of impunity.

University Anniversary. Hall full. There are people standing. Many acquaintances. Personalities. Authorities of yesteryear, of now. However, there is a companion that is missing. She did not come. Absent, with notice, but we knew she wasn’t coming. Even though we knew it, we waited for it. She did not come. Since she didn’t either, she went to take her place in the corridors of the facu, in the girls’ bathroom to laugh with the classmates or share secrets. We didn’t see her anymore on the streets of the Palomar, nor on university Thursdays at the bowling alley. The Humanities annex is bigger without her presence.
The wait continues. Not only from the light that left, not only from the smile, not only from her eyes. We wait for the truth. We wait for justice. We hope the wait is over. We hope that it is the violence of the males that is missing. We wait. We wait. We wait.
Inside, in the room, they applauded for a minute those who are not there, those who are missing, those who left. Obviously Lucia Maidana is one of those people who are no longer there, who are missing.
The anniversaries that are commemorated are round numbers. They make us happy and it is fair to celebrate them. That mention of Lucía was missing, because we are still waiting and because in those 50 of the unam, the ten of her absence is a very large percentage.
