The touching Drama by director Oliver Hermanus (39, “Moffie”) is a remake of the Japanese classic “Once Really Live” (1952).

Story: Every day the London officer Mr. Williams ( Bill Nighy, 73) Files left to right. He has long since surrendered to the meaningless rut. In 1953, when his doctor told him he had terminal cancer, Williams decided to commit suicide. But then he meets artist Mr. Sutherland (Tom Burke, 41), who inspires him to find meaning in his final days…

Nighy’s portrayal of a man realizing he wasted his life is heartbreaking. The deadly sad story is thankfully made bearable by cleverly interspersed puns and endearingly bizarre situations.

Conclusion: Fans of dry, British humor will get their money’s worth here, as will friends of emotional tragedies. Bill Nighy’s Oscar-nominated performance is absolutely gorgeous.
