He throws in the towel. The mayor of Saint-Brevin-les-Pins (Loire-Atlantique), Yannick Morez, announced on Facebook his wish to resign from his mandate, Wednesday May 10. “It will be up to the prefect to formally accept this will in order to make it effective” he details.
The city councilor explains that he made this decision “for personal reasons, in particular following the arson attack on my home and the lack of support from the State, and after a long reflection with my family”. His home was targeted on Wednesday March 22 by a fire, the subject of a criminal investigation.
“A Battle Beyond Me”
For several months, the mayor had been targeted by threats, particularly on social networks, due to the relocation of a reception center for asylum seekers (Cada), already installed in the town, near a primary school. . Residents, supported by the party of Eric Zemmour, Reconquest, denounce this “promiscuity” between the two establishments.
A few weeks ago, Yannick Morez explained to AFP to find himself “in the midst of a battle that overtakes (him)”between a center wanted by the State and an opposition “policy” piloted “from the outside”, understand by Reconquest. In his message, however, he explains that he is “confident in the future”.
