The career of Cordula Stratmann
Cordula Stratmann was born in Dusseldorf in 1963. After graduating from high school, she studied social work and systemic family therapy. Then she worked as a therapist in a family counseling center. In 1996 she gave up her job for a comedy career.
Cordula Stratmann had her first stage appearances at the Cologne Carnival. Her fictional character Annemarie Hülchrath was a huge hit and quickly made her famous throughout Germany. From 1998 to 2008 she was a regular guest on the WDR program “Room Free” with her “Annemie”. There were also eleven episodes of “Annemie on a home visit”.
In autumn 2003 Kiepenheuer & Witsch published Stratmann’s first book: “I write, but you have to read yourself”.
Cordula Stratmann embodied the main character in the SAT.1 production “Schillerstrasse”, the first improvisation format on German television. Stratmann was also seen as a playing partner for Olli Dittrich and Maren Kroymann.
Stratmann received numerous prizes for her work, such as the Golden Camera (2007) and the Bavarian Television Prize (2007).
For several years she has been working again as a family therapist in her own practice in Cologne.
