Harry Kane enters the pivotal months of his career at Tottenham Hotspur. In the meantime, the final 18 months of the London striker’s contract have begun – on the transfer market this usually means: either the contract is extended or the sale follows in the summer. The question of Kane’s future is currently more open than it has been for a long time.
FC Bayern’s interest has been documented for months. Munich would like to bring the 29-year-old on board as a late successor to Robert Lewandowski. Bayern also plays into the cards that Tottenham are reluctant to see their talisman celebrating goals at league rivals Manchester United. However, according to ‘The Athletic’, London hopes can still pin on Kane.
Farewell not decided yet
Because the Englishman has apparently not yet made a decision. According to the report, the attacker’s advisors have not yet had any serious talks about a possible departure. On the other hand, there has not yet been any contact with the Spurs club management. Initial talks are therefore planned for after the winter transfer window.
According to ‘The Athletic’, the right-footed player is in principle ready to sign a new contract – as long as the sporting perspective is right. The London native continues to crave trophies with his youth club and would continue to score goals in north London.
However, the chances of success for this are currently manageable. Antonio Conte’s team is still represented in the FA Cup and the Champions League, but the renewed qualification for the premier class is shaky. The gap to fourth-placed Manchester United is currently six points. It is also unclear whether Conte will remain head coach beyond the season. The arguments for Tottenham could be fundamentally better.
Long radio silence
The last time Kane’s time at Spurs seemed to be drawing to a close was in the summer of 2021, when Manchester City were trying hard to sign the striker. Kane was also pushing for a farewell at the time. But the Skyblues bit their teeth at the transfer demands from Spurs boss Daniel Levy. The break also left its mark on Kane in sport for a while.
According to The Athletic, autumn 2021 was also the last time Tottenham had serious discussions with his homegrown player about his future and a potential new contract. Since then, more than two years have passed and time is now running out. Kane can still play for a while – but not the Spurs.
