Linn Svahn was strongly critical when Krista Pärmäkoski did not line up in the sprint she qualified for yesterday. On Sunday, an answer came. I have had some problems, says Pärmäkoski to Expressen.
Krista Pärmäkoski had a tough competition week in France.
Last Friday, she was far from the lead in the free mile in Les Rousses. Yesterday she never made it to the start in the final session of the sprint, after not feeling fit.
And today’s mass start was ruined by a fall. Pärmäkoski finished in twelfth place, after flipping in the same icy curve that Iivo Niskanen fell over the other day.
– I had good skis and thought I could take it a little easier up the hill and then slide to catch up with the others downhill. But instead you were suddenly on the nose, says Pärmäkoski to Yle.
– Then I had to let the group behind me pass, otherwise I would have been run over by them. After that, it was just a matter of starting from scratch.
The answer to Svahn: “Be the best for my body”
Looking at the ride itself, Pärmäkoski felt that the day was a fall ahead.
– It will probably look better in next week’s competitions, the Finn hopes.
– I think she probably hoped for better news than what she got now, believes Yle Sport’s expert Matias Strandvall.
The decision to stand over the sprint drew attention in Sweden. Sprinter Linn Svahn was incomprehensible in Expressen’s interview.
– It is fair play we want in our sport. And this doesn’t feel like it, said the Swede.

In an interview with the same newspaper today, Pärmäkoski said that she was aware of the Swedish criticism. The answer:
– Linn has no idea what the reason is for my decision yesterday.
Pärmäkoski did not want to go into more detail about what the reason was.
– I have had some problems. And I want to be in really good shape in the WC. Then this was the best for my body.
The World Cup continues next week in Toblach.
