Prince Harry and Meghan Markle face a dilemma. According to the expert, they end up at the coronation of King Charles III. on the loser road – regardless of whether they participate or not.

London – The Coronation of King Charles III. (74) is fast approaching. It is still unclear whether Prince Harry (38) and Meghan Markle (41) will be among the guests attending the ceremony at Westminster Abbey on May 6th. With the stakes high for the Sussexes, negative reactions in London could also hurt their reputation in their new adopted home of California.

Coronation of King Charles: are Meghan and Harry in any case in the end there as losers?

At the end of March, Prince Harry surprised the press with an unannounced surprise visit to London. His official reason for visiting was a court hearing into allegations of unlawful information gathering by Associated Newspapers Limited (ANL), the publisher of the Daily Mail. However, it was also suspected that Harry wanted to steal the show from his father, King Charles, who left for his first state visit as king to Berlin shortly after Harry’s appearance. Or was there a completely different motivation behind Harry’s home visit?

“Perhaps his unannounced appearance in London to attend the trial was a kind of test run.”Royal expert Hilary Fordwich told express.co.uk. Before the coronation, Prince Harry wanted to find out how he would be received in his old homeland “to help the couple make a decision.” Harry’s visit probably didn’t really help the Sussexes, because the two could definitely end up as a loser.

Coronation of British monarchs

The coronation of the British monarchs traditionally takes place in Westminster Abbey in London. In the solemn ceremony, the Archbishop of Canterbury inaugurates the Queen or King. Parts of the service are the taking of the oath by the monarch, the presentation of the Bible and the crown jewels, the anointing and finally the coronation with the St. Edward’s crown.

At the coronation, Harry and Meghan can expect boos and a “frosty reception”.

“The dilemma facing Harry and Meghan is that of a lose-lose situation”Hilary Fordwich sums it up in the conversation express.co.uk together. “On the one hand, it is very likely that they will be booed by the British public if they accept their invitation.” Recent polls have shown “how angry and outraged the public is with them,” said Fordwich. “Not to mention all the insults, accusations, disclosures and indiscretions made in ‘Spare,’ Harry’s memoir.”

But Prince Harry and Meghan Markle would have to attend the coronation of King Charles III. not only expect opposition from the population, but also rejection from the British royal family. “This will no doubt also mean that the couple can expect a frosty reception at best from hard-working senior royals and the extended royal family,” predicts Hilary Fordwich. Nevertheless, the royal expert is sure that Harry and Meghan will be present at the coronation.

The couple simply cannot afford to cancel, said Fordwich. “There is a high probability that he will attend the coronation, the most important day of his father’s life.” Otherwise, Meghan and Harry could lose “their relevance and their potential to make money”. “In terms of lack of relevance, Harry always feared its limited ‘shelf life’, he always knew that once Prince George turned 18 he would become irrelevant.” see, even if Harry and Meghan are threatened with second-class treatment there.
