According to the ICA, until March, the movie theaters premiered 13 Portuguese feature films or with national co-production, and also the short film ‘Ice Merchants’, by João Gonzalez.
In terms of exhibition, all Portuguese films premiered this year totaled just 54,508 spectators and 228,864 euros at the box office.
The most watched Portuguese film in theaters until March was ‘Amadeo’, by Vicente Alves do Ó, with 11,957 spectators, followed by ‘Ice Merchants’, the animated short film by João Gonzalez, which was nominated for the Oscars and which obtained 10,735 spectators. Appetizer.
According to the ICA, in the first quarter of this year, 10 feature films and 17 short films were completed with financial support from the institute, “which represents an 80% increase in the number of works compared to the same period” in 2022.
