Mexico City.- The defense of Emilio Lozoya hopes that on March 10, Pemex and the Attorney General’s Office will authorize the reparation agreement and the criteria of opportunity, so that the processes for the Agronitrogen and Odebrecht Cases are conditionally suspended and his client abandons the jail.

On that date, the intermediate hearing of the second of the processes is scheduled, so that the Prosecutor’s Office orally accuses the former director of Pemex and asks to impose 46 and a half years in prison on him.

“We have reiterated to our colleagues from Pemex, the FGR and the Financial Intelligence Unit our full willingness to meet and before that date, as soon as possible, create the conditions for us to come, for example, on March 10, which is the date of the Odebrecht hearing, to sign the agreements in the framework of the Agronitrogenados Case and the agreement in the framework of the opportunity criteria of the Odebrecht Case and suspend both processes,” said Miguel Ontiveros, Lozoya’s lawyer, as he left the Center for Federal Criminal Justice of the North Prison.

The litigant affirmed that there will be no trial against Lozoya but against former President Enrique Peña Nieto, against whom he assures that there are elements that implicate him in corruption.

“The trial will be against Enrique Peña Nieto and his collaborators, who directed the organized apparatus of power, there can be no trial against Emilio Lozoya because he is a collaborating witness who has provided sufficient elements based on which Criminal action has already been exercised by the Prosecutor’s Office and has even generated arrest warrants and there are already people prosecuted, so what cannot be is that a person who provides elements is prosecuted and on the other hand, those who have been charged and some of them already prosecuted, then the trial should be against the former President of Mexico,” he said.

“If necessary, I want to make it very clear, if it is necessary that we request that a careful letter of collaboration be sent to the Spanish institutions, especially to the Prosecutor of the Government of the Kingdom of Spain so that Enrique Peña Nieto, former President of the Mexico, to the FGR and to inform you of the complaint that exists against you and to state what is appropriate to your right, we are going to do it, we are going to see what the response of the institutions is and we have full confidence that we will to pay and we will obtain the opportunity criteria”.

He said that Lozoya asked him personally to express to President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, through the media, the unfair situation in which he finds himself, since he is a collaborating witness and is in prison, while the former officials he denounced are free.

“He has asked me to convey to you that he does not understand the reason why, despite having the status of a collaborating witness, cooperating and demonstrating, that he does not understand why the collaborating witness is put in prison, is repressed, while that the people who have been denounced are released,” he said.

He added that Lozoya maintains his commitment to proceed with the signing of the agreement to extinguish the criminal actions against his family, especially his mother, who has been in house arrest for more than a thousand days and has not been able to see her relatives, nor has Lozoya. their children for 3 years.

Asked if Lozoya would give up continuing to collaborate with the FGR, if he was not released, Ontiveros replied that this scenario simply does not exist and that his client will always continue to cooperate with the investigations of the ministerial authority.
