LUMA urges customers to prepare for possible service interruptions due to the passage of Franklin far

The LUMA Energy consortium assured this Monday that it was prepared to respond to the possible impacts of Tropical Storm Franklin in Puerto Rico, and urged its customers to prepare for possible service interruptions.

“As of 11 am, the National Hurricane Center forecasts that Tropical Storm Franklin is moving through the Caribbean. Although it will not directly affect Puerto Rico, it will cause heavy rains throughout the island. As part of the emergency response plan, LUMA urges its customers to prepare for potential storm impacts and service interruptions”they indicated in a press release.

“Being prepared for emergencies is a daily priority for the more than 4,000 men and women of LUMA. Following our emergency response plan, LUMA is working closely with the Bureau for Emergency Management and Disaster Administration and other authorities to ensure a coordinated response. In addition, it is mobilizing and positioning crews and equipment throughout the island to respond to service interruptions caused by the effects of the storm. Safety is our top priority. We will do everything possible to help our clients throughout Puerto Rico”expressed Juan Saca, executive president of LUMA.

In addition, they reported that they have increased the number of emergency contracts and have coordinated with mutual assistance collaborators to help in response efforts when necessary.

Tropical storm Franklin moves this Monday to the southwest of Puerto Rico and, although its center is very far from the island, it is expected that it will leave behind heavy rains, thunderstorms and electrical storms.
