a priest dies after a brutal attack; the police investigate

SAN LUIS, Missouri — A Missouri man is accused of driving a stolen truck onto the St. Louis airport runway right behind a plane that had just landed, where he fled from police until he crashed into a police cruiser.

The incident that occurred Thursday morning was described in court documents filed Friday, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.

Prosecutors say the man stole a service truck that was unlocked and running, and drove to the airport through a closed security gate.

He even blocked a plane that was on its way to the runway, before the police approached him with guns pointed at him. He got out of the truck, asked the police what the problem was, and quickly got back in and fled.

The individual almost collided with a police officer before reaching the runway, behind a plane that had just landed, and accelerated again.

The police used their vehicles to divert the truck, which began to spin. But the man continued driving until he collided head-on with a police patrol car.

Even so, the man did not stop stepping on the accelerator until a police officer pointed a rifle at him and ordered him to get out of the truck.

The subject was jailed on Thursday and remained detained on Sunday. He faces numerous charges, including property damage, assault and resisting arrest.
