An Oklahoma man checked to see if he had won anything on a Mega Millions ticket. Upon reviewing his ticket, he discovered that he had won $10,000.. However, it turned out that the prize was much higher.
Believing he had won $10,000, the Tulsa man went to the Oklahoma Lottery Winners Center to collect his new fortune.
That’s when staff told the man, identified only as Larry, that he had actually won $1 million..
“He was shocked!” lottery officials said.
To win $10,000 playing the Mega Millions game, a lottery player must match the golden ball and four out of five white balls.
Players who match all five white balls win at least $1 million.
Non-jackpot prize amounts may be multiplied if a player added the Megaplier option.
The probability of hitting all five white balls is 1 in 12,607,306.
Larry purchased his winning Mega Millions ticket for the August 4 drawing at a QuikTrip store in Tulsa.
