Manchester City are Premier League champions again

MANCHESTER-. He Manchester City set a record in the Premier League, becoming champion for the fourth consecutive season by beating 3-1 on Sunday West Ham on the last day of the season.

Pep Guardiola’s City became the first club to win the top division of English football in four years in a row after keeping its pursuer Arsenal at bay, which closed with a 2-1 victory against Everton.

A double from Phil Foden in the first half led to City’s victory at the Etihad Stadium.

Mohammed Kudus pulled one back for West Ham with a bicycle kick goal near the break, but Spanish midfielder Rodri restored City’s lead by winning their sixth national title in six seasons.

Those led by Guardiola needed to beat West Ham to secure the title after emerging with a two-point lead at the top.

Foden avoided any panic when he opened the scoring with a brilliant goal not even two minutes into the match.

After receiving the pass from Bernardo Silva, Foden eluded rival midfielder James Ward-Prowse and finished with a left-footed shot from outside the area that hit the top corner. The goal fell after just 80 seconds.

Foden, the best English footballer of the year, scored the second from close range after a cross from Jeremy Doku in the 18th minute.

Kudus fueled Arsenal’s hopes with his overhead kick goal in the 42nd.

But City stretched the lead after the restart when Rodri scored with a low shot from the edge of the area.

City closed the season with a grand total of 91 points, two more than Arsenal.

With Kai Havertz’s goal in the 89th minute, the Gunners managed to complete the comeback against Everton. But the result was not enough for them to win their first league title since the campaign of the legendary “Invincibles” team led by Arsene Wenger in 2003-04.
