The governor of the Buenos Aires provinceAxel Kicillof, presented the electronic prescription that can be used from this month on Buenos Aires pharmacies and that it will allow the population to acquire their medicines through a prescription issued by a professional via mobile phone or email.

The Minister of Health of the province of Buenos Aires, Nicolás Kreplak, highlighted the implementation of the Buenos Aires Electronic Prescription program as “a great advance”, and stressed that it is a system that “integrates everyone” either through who “They have social work, prepaid or those who go to the public hospital“.

In statements made to Télam Radio, the minister assured that the Buenos Aires Electronic Prescription “is a tool for integration and access to rights, which allows for more comfort and health security.”

Thus, as of February 28, the people of Buenos Aires can buy medicines in the pharmacies of the province with the mere presentation of the DNI and the prescription prescribed by a professional through the cell phone or an email, regardless of the coverage they have.

The objective of the measure is to simplify management for the benefit of those who require chronic treatment, preventing them from having to go to a doctor’s office once a month.

In this context, Kreplak indicated that there is a national law on electronic prescription and in this sense claimed that the province of Buenos Aires, from now on, “is the first jurisdiction in the country that has this regulated, organized, regulated to guarantee these things : safety in health information, safety in the use of medicines”.

Province of Buenos Aires implements the electronic prescription

“When the pandemic began, the use of prescriptions digitally was authorized in a precarious way and that helped a lot to be able to access medication at a time when there were difficulties in accessing many things,” recalled the provincial official.

Then, Kreplak highlighted the need to be sure that that professional who issues an Electronic Prescriptionis validated and that recipe cannot be reused.

“We all know that the misuse of medicines is harmful to health, it is harmful to the system in general,” said the minister, who added that this new modality for prescribing will provide “practicality and comfort” to professionals, patients and to pharmacists”.

“This system is free, it is very easy to useIn fact, for professionals it simplifies many steps because there is a large part of the information that is preloaded, so it simplifies what we sometimes have to write it many times and allows patients to remotely access these prescriptions as well,” he added.

Regarding access to the Buenos Aires Electronic Prescriptions program, the Buenos Aires official indicated that, from now on, all those who have digital systems, social works, prepaid, “register with the province’s Ministry of Health to have the same operating standard“.

Also, medical professionals can go to register their electronic signature in 175 registration mouths that the Ministry of Health has already placed in Buenos Aires territory.

The initiative is the result of joint work with the National University of the Center (UNICEN) and the Colleges of Physicians and Pharmacists of the Province of Buenos Aires.

In order to prescribe, professionals must register with their ID and registration at one of the 175 points distributed throughout the territory. There they will be assigned a user who will give them access to a digital signature granted by the Ministry of Health, enabling this tool that does not entail any cost since it can be used through the computer or cell phone.

In this sense, the Undersecretary of Health Management, Leticia Ceriani, said that although the use of the Electronic Prescription is “not mandatory”, it is something that was worked on with the College of Physicians, “because it will allow them to solve many security problems and also guarantees the legal exercise of the profession” and stressed that it will “make life easier for patients”.
