manchester city, current champion of the Champions League, won the European Super Cup by beating Sevillacurrent winner of the Europa League, on penalties (5-4) after having equalized 1-1 in regulation time, this Wednesday in Athens.

The error of the Serbian player from Sevilla Nemanja Gudelj in the penalty session allowed the English club, led by Pep Guardiola, win the Super Cup for the first time in its history.
In regulation time Cole Palmer (minute 63) had equalized for City after Youssef En-Nesyri opened the scoring for the Spanish team (25). Both goals were headers.
Sevilla, seven times winner of the Europa League in the last 17 years, touched the Super Cup against the great dominator of the Premier League, but Gudelj ran into the crossbar and the trophy that opens continental football will travel to England.
