Since in 2019 the next movie of The Fantastic Four of Marvel Studiosthey have been rumored some names of actors who would be part of the cast of this long-awaited feature filmafter a long absence from the first group of superheroes on the big screen.
After two previous attempts to bring Marvel’s First Family to life on Fox, one badder than the other, Disney’s acquisition of the movie studio in 2019 means a reboot of the superhero team in the Marvel Cinematic Universe ( MCU).
Currently, Fantastic Four is slated for release on February 14, 2025as part of Phase 6 of the MCU. Matt Shakman (WandaVision) is tapped to direct the film after Spider-Man: Homecoming’s Jon Watts left the project in 2020.
With the formation of the team just around the corner, many are wondering who will be cast in these coveted roles. Screen Rant made a list of some names mentioned.
Who will be Reed Richards?
Although initial speculation led many to place Adam Driver (Ben Solo in Star Wars) in the role of Fantastic Four villain Doctor Doom, recent theories suggest that he could actually play the role of Reed Richards himself. In fact, DanielRPK (via The Direct ) has claimed that Driver is in “final talks” to play Richards.
Another name that is mentioned is that of Penn Badgley, who plays Joe Goldberg in the acclaimed Netflix series You. During an interview at the podcast Happy Sad Confused by Josh Horowitz, Badgley was asked about fan casting calls casting him in the role of the MCU’s Reed Richards, to which the actor replied in a coy tone: “I can’t reveal that. neither confirm nor deny”.
Ryan Gosling y John Krasinskithe latter who already played a variant of Richards in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, are the other candidates for the role of Reed Richards.

Who will be Sue Storm?
Up to five names of actresses are mentioned for the role of Sue Storm, the acclaimed Invisible Woman: Emily Blunt, Margot Robbie, Mila Kunis, Jodie Corner y Rachel Brosnahan.
If Krasinski were to be cast as the MCU’s Reed Richards, Emily Blunt, his wife in the real world, would perhaps be the perfect choice to play Sue, as the couple eventually ends up getting married. Interestingly, Blunt has almost had a role in the MCU before, as she was offered the role of Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow, though she turned it down.

In the case of Margot Robbieit is said that she has been in talks to play Sue Storm, but the actress is closely linked to DC Studios for her work as Harley Quinn… and with Barbie, although that is beside the point.
With respect to Mila Kunis, the rumors arose after photos of a meeting with director Shakman leaked, although the fandom does not have much faith in him for the role. About Jodie Comerhe was asked about the possibility in the podcast Happy Sad Confused and said that while she hadn’t heard anything, “never say never.”
Finally, Rachel Brosnahan is the “cover” for the role of Sue and they say that it has many possibilities. Brosnahan claimed that she hadn’t heard from Marvel Studios, but that she is about to become available since The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel it is coming to its end.

Who will be Johnny Storm?
The Human Torch is one of the favorites of the Fantastic Four fandom and is the one they push Marvel the most for, as they hope they make a good choice of actor.
The names that are rumored are that of Paul Mescal, who rose to fame as Connell Waldron in the Normal People miniseries. Mescal most recently appeared in The Lost Daughter opposite Olivia Colman and has been called a brilliant up-and-coming actor.

There is also the option of Austin Butlerwho after a starring role as Elvis Presley in Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis, which earned him an Academy Award nomination, has been speculated to appear as Johnny Storm in Fantastic Four.

Who will be Ben Grimm (The Thing)?
Ben Grimm, The Thing, The Thing, The Mole. As you prefer to call it, the biggest and strongest member of The Fantastic Four will also be part of the film, but there are still no concrete names among the rumors as candidates to interpret it. Many have suggested the name of David Harbourstar of Stranger Things and who previously worked with Marvel for Black Widow as Red Guardian.
