“Until Friday, Massa will concentrate on stabilizing and from Saturday, businessmen, trade unionists and social movements will be at a table to shape the economic order”, revealed sources from the Ministry of Economy after the meeting.

“The State made a key decision, which is to stand firm, not to allow speculation,” said Sergio Massa.

The meeting, which was held at the Ministry of Economy, was attended by the co-heads of the CGT Héctor Daer (Health) and Carlos Acuña (service stations) and the leaders Andrés Rodríguez (UPCN), Gerardo Martínez (UOCRA), Jorge Sola (Seguro ), José Luis Lingeri (Sanitary Works), and Armando Cavalieri (Commerce), while for the Evita Movement were Emilio Pérsico and Fernando Navarro and for Barrios de Pie, Daniel Menéndez (all three are government officials).

The meeting became a way of giving a sign of tranquility to the Government: the trade unionists affirmed that they saw Massa “ready to fight” to calm the economy and pointed against “the responsibility of speculators” in the currency crisis. “Four living handle the dollar,” he criticized in front of the Persian minister, who told the minister: “Count on us”.

Massa thanked them for their support and considered that “it is inexplicable that today there are attempts to remark prices on the basis of what was the increase in the blue dollar last week because all those who import do so with the official dollar in the single free exchange market”. For this reason, the minister considered that “It is not a justified increase in macroeconomics but justified in some fanned”, for which he warned: “We are going to be guarantors and controllers and We ask you to help us be guarantors and controllers that there is supply and compliance with price agreements”.

“Above all things -said Massa-, I want to thank you because it is a moment in which the State made a key decision which is to stand firm, not to allow speculation, obviously understanding that the markets are transparent, but that sometimes the State has the responsibility of giving certainty to the people, to ordinary citizens, and then it is my task as minister is to try to guarantee a path of stabilization and to give certainty in prices, in salaries, in social assistance, in social inclusion programs and in productive programs, but, above all, to provide certainty in macroeconomic terms”.

Massa highlighted that “when sometimes the functioning of the market does not naturally give It is essential that the State intervene and assert its role as regulator of social relations”.
