INFO BFMTV – According to the Paris prosecutor’s office, 124 individuals arrested have seen their procedures closed without further action. For the 157 others, the procedures are continuing.

As BFMTV learned on Wednesday from the Paris prosecutor’s office, 44% of police custody taken on Monday, during the May 1 demonstration in the streets of the capital, were dismissed. In fact, of the 281 people concerned, 124 saw their procedures closed without further action.

With regard to the 157 other people, the Paris public prosecutor’s office detailed their situation as follows: 56 were presented to a prosecutor’s delegate with a view to an alternative measure to prosecution, 9 penal orders, 10 referrals for for an appearance on prior admission of guilt, 2 referrals for a summons by report and 11 referrals for an immediate appearance.

In addition, 46 police custody were extended and 23 others lifted for further investigation.

“Massive appeal”

These figures are released shortly after a letter dated April 17 addressed to the Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin, Danièle Simonnot, the general controller of places of deprivation of liberty, taunts a “massive appeal” by the police to “preventive” arrests and police custody.

On several occasions, the prefect of police of Paris Laurent Nuñez has taken issue with these accusations: “preventive arrests do not exist”. Gérald Darmanin, for his part, felt that the controller did not respect her role by alerting on arrests and police custody.
