A new single player MechWarrior game is currently in development.

Speaking to the podcast No Guts No Galaxy, Piranha Games’ (MechWarrior Online, MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries) President Russ Bullock revealed they’re working on it.

The official announcement follows

“We’re still working on MechWarrior,” says Bullock. “I was a bit surprised that we were able to work on it for so long, which is great.”

“Everyone knows that we will be releasing DLC 4 for MechWarrior 5 and there is another MechWarrior game in development at Piranha.”

He makes it very clear that this is not an online game: “It’s not MechWarrior Online 2, it’s not the sequel to MechWarrior Online, it’s not online PvP[-Spiel].”

He compares it more to MechWarrior 5, but it is a standalone product and not an extension for it.

“It’ll be announced later – I don’t know, if I had to guess it could be as late as… oh who knows. Sometime in 2023. Maybe even as late as the fall, September or something.”

“So it’s going to be a while, you’ll have to wait and see what it is. But yeah, it’s more like the MechWarrior 5 experience. That means it’s going to be an all-platform game, PC and console.”

MechWarrior 5 first appeared for PC on the Epic Games Store in 2019. It was later released on Steam, in May 2021 for Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One, and in September 2021 for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.
